This summer, the focus is on empowering Hawaii’s youth to tell stories in digital media.
Calling all young persons - from the 7th - 12th grades - if you’re interested in learning how to make digital movies, if you’re the next “Steven Speilberg,” and it you want to learn media-making skills that’ll serve you long into the future, visit digitalmountain-hawaii.com and sign up now!
Plans are in the works to bring working video production professionals right into some of Hawaii Island’s less-traveled communities including Na’alehu, Pahoa, Kalapana and more, where students will be invited to take hands-on workshops in videography and editing. THEN, they’ll be invited to work on their own 3-minute short film focused on one of our greatest treasures: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
And to make it even better, the winning entry will take home an Apple computer and digital video camera (among other fine prizes) to celebrate his/her win. This is gonna be fun!
We’re delighted to welcome Castle Resorts & Hotels as our new lodging partner, and are looking forward to exploring their amazing portfolio of properties. From our hometown favorite, the Hilo Hawaiian to the spectacular Lotus At Diamond Head (formerly the W) on Waikiki’s Gold Coast, there’s something for every taste and budget.
Interested in something a little further out of town? Castle Resorts & Hotels offers spectacular options in Thailand, Guam and New Zealand — like The Spencer On Byron on Auckland’s North Shore.
The news is quickly catching on — our friends & ‘ohana in Nevada can enjoy the best of Hawai‘i Nei on Kama‘āina Backroads™ 7 days a week, up to 3 times a day! In Nevada, exclusively on COX96™. Here’s the current program schedule:
More Hawaii folks go to Las Vegas for holoholo* than just about any other continental U.S. destination, and on a recent trip to ‘Vegas that we took, we were ecstatic to learn that 5 of the cast members of “Stomp Out Loud!” are HAWAII LOCAL BOYS! Of course, we just had to meet ‘em, first hand. And badaboom, it was like hanging out with ‘ohana in the middle of the Nevada desert. “Stomp Out Loud,” a special Las Vegas version of the Tony-Award winning Broadway hit, is the entertainment centerpiece at the spectacular Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino. The cast is double the size of the original production, and the show is performed inside a new $28 million, 1,500-seat theater specifically fashioned for the show, which is created and directed by Luke Cresswell.
And our local boys - Andy, Ivan, Andres and Guillaume - they’re making us all just so proud!
Enjoy the “rough cut” sneak peek. (Don’t laugh too hard at KBR’s Roland Joseph Torres attempting to “Stomp” - he was caught up in the thrill of the moment!). Coming soon on Kama’aina Backroads…
